20th All India Inter-Agricultural Universities Sports & Games Meet - 2019-20 Concludes Today

Dr. R.C. Agrawal, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Education), ICAR inaugurated the ICAR sponsored “20th All India Inter-Agricultural Universities Sports and Games Meet - 2019-20”. The event is being organized at the Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University (SVVU), Tirupati from 1st to 5th March 2020.   Dr. Agrawal emphasized that sports teach discipline and different lessons to the participants, whether they win or lose in the game. He accentuated that the event will provide the students with an opportunity to live in a multi-cultural and multi-linguistic environment. Dr. Agrawal also highlighted the ICAR’s support to the Agricultural Universities for providing the quality education to UG, PG and Ph.D. students. He stressed that the Council is also financially supporting experiential learning, especially, internship and training programs for the students.

The Deputy Director-General said that ICAR is committed to conducting ICAR Entrance Examinations hassle-free for the students. He urged the students to choose agriculture education by choice not by chance.

The Guest of Honor, Dr. Y. Hari Babu, Vice-Chancellor, Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University, Tirupati highlighted the organization of the event through paperless and completely in a digital manner. He urged the ICAR for increasing the funding for such types of events.

Dr. K. Sarjana Rao, Dean of Students Affairs & Organizing Secretary, AGRI Sports - 2020 stated about the incorporation of three important aspects, i.e. Valiant, Skill and Raise in the logo of the event and the selection of Black Buck - the state animal as the symbol to give importance for the conservation of wildlife. A total of 3,000 sportspeople from 65 Universities of Agricultural and Allied Sciences from across the country are participating in the event.
