The ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Bengaluru in collaboration with the Directorate of Extension, University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad organized an Action Plan Workshop for the Krishi Vigyan Kendras of Karnataka (Zone-XI) for the Year - 2019-20 from 25th to 27th April, 2019.
The Chief Guest, Dr. M.B. Chetti, Vice-Chancellor, University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad talked about the key role being played by the Krishi Vigyan Kendras in the technology assessment and dissemination of newly released technologies/varieties to the farmers. He stated that this will help in enhancing the knowledge and income of farmers.
Dr. M.J. Chandre Gowda, Director, ATARI, Bengaluru opined that the KVK Action Plans should focused on the recent technologies/varieties, reducing the cost of cultivation by stopping the excess use of fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides and reducing the labor cost by the adoption of appropriate farm mechanization.
Earlier, Dr. N.A. Yeledhalli, Director (Extension) UAS, Dharwad welcomed the dignitaries, scientists and experts from different SAU’s and ICAR Institutes. In his address, Dr. N.A. Yeledhalli urged the ICAR Institutes in Karnataka for guiding the KVKs for working on crop diversification, soil and water management and post-harvest technologies for enhancing the farmers’ income.
The Senior Officials of Agricultural Universities were also present during the occasion. More than 75 senior scientists & heads, experts from different SAU’s, ICAR institutes of Karnataka and faculty of UAS, Dharwad participated in the workshop.
