The dedication of an Agriculture Extension Officer (AEO) G Santosh towards his job and his innovative spirit has brought smiles to the faces of several farmers in Tadkal in Kangti Mandal, Telangana.

He made some suggestions & raised awareness among farmers about how to prepare, use and get benefits derived from this waste decomposer, during the Kharif 2021 season. By following AEO Santosh's advice, farmers of Babulgaon village in Kangti Mandal, Sangareddy District, Telangana get good results and said we will use it again in the next season...villagers are also impressed by the results of waste decomposer.

By decomposing plant/crop residue in the field and releasing enzyme, waste decomposer promotes the growth of soil micro-organisms and create a favorable environment for nutrient release. Waste decomposer acts as biofertilizer, biocontrol agent, and soil health restorer.

How to Prepare Waste Decomposer?

  • Take 2 kg of jaggery and combine it with 200 litres of water in a plastic drum.

  • Now take 1 bottle of waste decomposer and pour all its contents in a plastic drum containing jaggery drum.

  • For a uniform distribution of waste decomposer in a drum, properly mix it with a wooden stick.

  • Cover the drum with paper or cardboard and stir it once or twice a day.

  • After 5 days, the drum solution becomes creamy.

Note 1: Farmers could prepare the waste decomposer solution from the above-mentioned solution repeatedly. For this, 20 litres of waste decomposer solution are mixed with 2 kg of jaggery and 20 litres of water in a drum.

Note 2: Farmers can prepare this solution continuously from this waste decomposer for the rest of their lives.

Application of Waste Decomposer within 21 days of application, 1000 litres per acre changes the biological & physical properties of all types of soil (acidic and alkaline), and it helps to generate up to 4 Lakh earthworm populations in 1 acre of land in just six months.

These days, we strive for sustainable agriculture and the government is also promoting Zero Budget Natural Farming as chemical farming is extremely hazardous to our health as well as soil health... So the time has come to gradually shift to organic farming.
