The Zebu Museum Edílson Lamartine Mendes, is the property of the Brazilian Association of Breeders of Zebu - ABCZ. The establishment of this institution began on December 19, 1983, through the signing of an agreement between ABCZ and the Faculdades Integradas de Uberaba - FIUBE, now Uberaba University - UNIUBE; Faculty of Agronomy and Zootechnics of Uberaba, now Associated Faculties of Uberaba - FAZU and the Cultural Foundation of Uberaba - FCU.  In its early days of existence, the Zebu Museum was just a department of the ABCZ.

To disseminate memory and enable the user to learn more about the history and evolution of the Brazilian Association of Zebu Breeders (ABCZ)! It is more than 8 decades of progress that have made it the largest entity representative of zebu breeds.
Photographs and information resulting from research on hundreds of documents on the stages and processes of importing pioneer importers, political struggles for entry of animals into the country, behind-the-scenes stories and details on Indian specimens that arrived in Brazil.
The contents are cataloged and organized in four communities: Historical-Cultural Collection; Permanent Documentation; Scientific Objects and Educational Objects. In total, there are more than 43,000 educational files, available for free download, to anyone interested.

In 1984, during the 50th ExpoZebu, the Zebu Museum was opened to the public on May 2 with the launch of its first show. The name chosen for the institution, "Edílson Lamartine Mendes", was a way to honor this important creator and former president of what would be the predecessor of ABCZ - the former Rural Society of Triangulo Mineiro.

In its early days of existence, the Zebu Museum was just a department of the ABCZ. During 1990, in the search for the amplification of its action and the socio-educational commitment, it happened to be an institution with own identity having the ABCZ like mentor. Throughout this trajectory, the agency has sought directions that privilege the knowledge, selection, research and presentation of samples related to a universe of sources that cover different languages. These range from intangible and tangible cultural assets to the varied world of history and the arts, such as music, theater, typical dances, local traditions, handicrafts and cuisine.

The collection of the Zebu Museum consists of exhibits and the Museum of the Zebu Virtual. With the collection it is possible to carry out teaching and / or extension activities with the assembly of didactic exhibitions, attendance to public and private schools, promotion of seminars, lectures and courses focusing on the area of Agrarian Sciences.
The pieces of the museum have their own historicity and can reveal data of interesting events as a way to involve and make known the history of Zebu in Brazil.

Annually, during ExpoZebu, this heritage is exposed according to the theme of each show that is designed, elaborated and demonstrated to the public. In its implementation the Brazilian Livestock of Reference Center Zebu established a dialogue of common interest entities, brought together leaders getting technical support from the following reference institutions in the country:
