Farmers Can Earn Rs. 36000 Yearly through PM Kisan Maandhan Yojana; Check Method to Apply

So far, 19, 60,152 farmers have registered under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojana, a pension scheme launched by the Centre.  Under this pension scheme, the government had decided to add 5 crore farmers with cultivable land up to 2 hectares in the first phase. In the second phase, all 12 crore small and marginal farmers will be added to it. The central government had started the registration process for Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan yojana on 9th August 2019. Under PM-KMY, after the completion of 60 years of age, farmers will be given a pension of Rs 3000 per month i.e. Rs 36,000 annually.

Haryana farmers are at the forefront of pension scheme - According to the Ministry of Agriculture, maximum number of farmers in Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojana is 4, 03,307. Next in line is Bihar with 2, 75,384 farmers adopting the PM-KMY. Jharkhand is third with 245707 enrollments, Uttar Pradesh is fourth with 2, 44,124 farmers and Chhattisgarh is fifth with 200896 beneficiaries.

Benefits of PM Kisan Maandhan Yojana

According to the officials of the Ministry of Agriculture, there will be no fees for PM-KMY registration. If a farmer is availing the benefit of PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi yojana then no separate documents will be taken for this.

Under this scheme, farmers can choose to contribute directly from the benefits received from the PM-Kisan scheme. In this way, they will not have to spend money directly from their pocket. It must be noted that farmers in between 18 to 40 years can register for Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojana.

Farmers need to make a monthly contribution of Rs.55 - Rs.200 - depending on their age of entry.

What to do if anyone wants to leave the scheme in between?

If a farmer wants to leave PM-KMY in between, then his money will not be lost. The money that has been deposited till his departure will get interest equal to the savings account of banks. If the farmer dies, then his wife will continue to get 50 percent of the amount. Life Insurance Corporation of India will manage the pension fund of farmers.

How much money has to be paid?

The amount of premium farmer will pay government will also give equal money.  Its minimum premium is Rs. 55 and the maximum is Rs. 200. If someone wants to leave the policy in between then farmer will get the deposit along with interest. If the farmer dies then his wife will get Rs 1500 per month.

  • The PM-KMY enrollment can be done through self-registration online or via Common Service Centres in different states. The enrollment is free of cost.

  • For self-enrollment via online registration, click this link - maandhan yojana

  • For enrollment via Common Service Centre farmers will have to visit the nearest CSC along with their Aadhaar card & bank passbook/account details. The Common Service Centres will charge Rs.30/- per enrolment that will be borne by Government.

  • The Village Level Entrepreneur or VLE at the CSC will complete the on-line registration procedure after taking details like name, date of birth, spouse/nominee, Aadhaar number, mobile number etc.
