ICAR Training Course on “Advances in Epidemiology” at GADVASU

Faculty training program on 'Advances in Molecular epidemiology' is going on at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana. In this program 25 faculty participants from different State Agricultural/Veterinary Universities & National Institutes have joined to enhance their knowledge as well as practical skills. The training program is being funded by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Delhi under its prestigious Capacity Building Program (CBP). The training started on 10th and will continue till 19th December, 2019.

Faculty training program on 'Advances in Molecular epidemiology' is going on at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana. Dr. R.S. Aulakh, Director, School of Public Health and Zoonoses, welcomed participants of the program and officers of the university. Dean Post Graduate Studies, Dr. S.K. Uppal (Nodal officer, ICAR) apprised the participants about the importance of epidemiology in animal & public health. Dr. J.P.S Gill, Director Research briefed the participants about the significance of rapid and sensitive molecular epidemiological investigative tools in population health.

The Dean of College of Veterinary Science, Dr. P.S. Brar highlighted the relevance of epidemiology in veterinary and human medicine and as a core subject in veterinary curriculum. The Course Director, Dr. Jasbir Singh Bedi, elaborated that the course was in great demand and only 25 applicants could be accommodated due to limited slots. The selected participants represented 14 different states of India. Dr. Bedi expressed his gratitude to the ICAR and University officials for their support, encouragement and co-operation rendered for this training program.  During the course of the training program eminent speakers of national and international repute, from University of Sydney (Australia), Royal Veterinary College (United Kingdom), University of Calgary (Canada), International Livestock Research Institute (Kenya), Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (Sweden), PGIMER (Chandigarh) and experts from the university will interact with the participants.

Hands on training on various molecular epidemiological techniques will be imparted in this course.
