The African Asian Rural Development Organisation (AARDO) and the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIM-K) have signed an MoU (Memorandum of understanding). The MoU was signed to encourage and work collaboratively in research, consulting firms, technical and knowledge assistance in promoting sustainable agriculture and rural development practices in the 33 member-AARDO, which involves 31 nations in the Asian-African region.

According to a news statement, the agreement was signed in New Delhi by IIM-K Director Debashis Chatterjee and AARDO Secretary-General Manoj Nardeosingh.

Dr. Nardeosingh, while speaking on the groundbreaking collaboration, said that the agreement would now bring regular engagement among authorities of participating countries and knowledgeable faculty members of IIM-K through various technical programs in resolving issues and challenges experienced in AARDO's rural areas. According to him, the AARDO would greatly benefit from sophisticated scientific management methodologies and instruments in order to improve life in rural areas.

Prof. Chatterjee expressed his delight at IIM-growing K's global footprint and international collaborations, saying that the joining of these two organizations seemed to have the immense potential to make a difference in the lives of billions of people from different continents.

Africa and Asia are linked by similar legacies and aspire to a bright future.

Both Organizations Will Work Toward the Same Goal

Since both organizations have a similar interest in agriculture and sustainable rural advancement in AARDO member countries, the MoU calls for them to work together to achieve common goals, particularly in tackling the challenges in agriculture and sustainable rural development, through research, publication, consulting, and advisory services.

In addition, new information and its sharing, creative solutions, interventions, and capacity improvement will be emphasized in order to benefit and empower rural communities in these nations.

Both IIM-K and AARDO will collaborate to conduct worldwide, regional, and on-the-spot or in-country training programmes, workshops, and seminars to help member countries improve their institutional capacity.
