IBA Ethiopia Center for Innovation hosted the first African Innovation Week 2019 at the African Union Commission (AUC) Headquarters, along with other partners, namely FDRE Ministry for Innovation & Technology (MiNT), African Union Commission (AUC), and the Oslo International Hub (OIH). The six-day event featured thematic areas that include Women Innovation and Entrepreneurship, AgriTech, Smart Cities, ShelterTech& Circular Energy, HealthTech, TourismTech& Hospitality as well as Trade & Investment.
An MOU was signed between International Agriculture Consulting Group and IBA Ethiopia during the African Innovation Week 2019. MOU was signed by Dr Dinesh Chauhan, CEO and Director IACG and Mr. AshenafiMulugeta, Founder and Managing Director of IBA Ethiopia. Speaking at the occasion Dr Dinesh Chauhan CEO and Director of IACG expressed that this collaboration will help in bringing in better technologies, Innovation and Investment to Africa. IACG already has presence in Africa carrying on consulting work for projects in Angola, Mozambique, Sudan, Ethiopia etc. He was pretty excited and impressed to see the innovations and several idea stage concepts on which several young entrepreneurs were working in Africa and who also pitched for the investment during the six-day long conference. IACG will be bringing in larger participation from Asia in next year African Innovation Week to be held in 2020.
Mr. Ashenafi Mulugeta, founder and Managing Director IBA Ethiopia talked about African Innovation week, how it impacts the continent in Sci-Tech advancement and its role in creating a functional platform for African policymakers, researchers, academics, private sector and international stakeholders that engage in fostering innovation and inclusive sustainable development in Africa.
