Israel to Assist India Transform 150 Villages into ‘Villages of Excellence’

Israel has established 29 CoEs in 12 states, generating over 25 million vegetable plants and over 3,87,000 high-quality fruit plants per year. Furthermore, these centers are capable of training 1.2 lakh farmers each year.

India and Israel will collaborate to establish 150 'Villages of Excellence,' which will assist farmers in adopting cutting-edge farm technologies and building modern rural infrastructure.

Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar announced in a statement that 150 villages located near Centres of Excellence (CoEs) will be turned into "Villages of Excellence." "Of these, 75 villages will be set up in the first year to honour India's 75th year of independence, where both countries will collaborate," Tomar said. An official stated that the initiative's details will be worked out collectively.

Tomar expressed his happiness with the conclusion of 30 years of diplomatic relations between India and Israel in a meeting with the new Israeli Ambassador to India Naor Gilon on January 27. Gilon stated that these CoEs are an excellent example of cooperation between the two countries, and he urged that CoEs be certified in order to improve the standards and quality of services supplied to farmers.

Gilon also expressed interest in expanding collaboration with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and promised to share the most cutting-edge technologies with Israel, according to the statement.

‘Village of Excellence’ will be comprised of:

Modern agriculture infrastructure includes pressurized water transportation from source to the field, drip irrigation system, sensors, precision agriculture solutions, meteorological stations, nurseries, agro machinery, packinghouses, cold-chain facilities, transportation, and other agro-technologies.

Capacity Building- Training of Trainers (TOT), Farmer Training, Generate Cultivation Protocols, Agri-Technology Expertise and Training, Agro-Business Training
