Mushroom Cultivation: Scientist Tells How One Can Grow Mushroom in Pots at Home

There is good news for those who refrain from eating mushrooms due to high prices; now the vegetarians will be able to grow mushrooms at their homes. People can do mushroom cultivation in the pot itself and can eat it for months.

There is good news for those who refrain from eating mushrooms due to high prices; now the vegetarians will be able to grow mushrooms in their homes. People can do mushroom cultivation in the pot itself and can eat it for months. 

Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University Pusa Samastipur Vice Chancellor Dr. Ramesh Chandra Srivastava is conducting research in his university on a new scheme to increase the income of farmers.

Special research is going on the Cultivation of Mushrooms in pots. Dr. Srivastava told that the research is being done on mushroom cultivation for people living in cities or urban areas.

How can mushrooms be available in their homes? For this, pots are being prepared so that the mushrooms can be planted in small pots in the corner of houses, these pots will be different from normal pots.

Dr. Ramesh said that in India a lot of toor cultivation is done. After the toor is prepared, their remains are burned. Now the university is working on how to use that residue commercially. Scientists are preparing pots from its remains.  Research is being done on this project under the supervision of Dr. Dayaram, a mushroom scientist of Bihar.

Dr. Dayaram explains that under this initiative, those who keep pots in their homes will be able to eat mushrooms throughout the year.

Now let’s understand in detail; 

Keeping in mind the members of a family, 5 bags can be used in a house.  If you start planting in December you will keep eating till February. About 4 kg to 5 kg of mushroom will be produced with 5bags. One-pot will cost only Rs 70 to Rs 100 and it will yield up to 1 kilo.
