Netherlands to Support India in Best Agricultural Practices: Dutch Ambassador

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 9th edition of Vibrant Gujarat Summit today (18th January) in Gandhinagar. Almost 1.5 million visitors and around 3,000 delegates from over 100 countries are expected to attend the event. The trade show will continue till 22nd January and will be open for citizens on 21st to 22nd January.

The Dutch Ambassador to India, Marten van den Berg on the sidelines of the Vibrant Gujarat 2019 told media that Netherlands will support India in best agricultural practices so that it could grow best, make less wastage and exports more.

Around 112 delegates from different Dutch companies will be visiting the country to attend the Vibrant Gujarat 2019 event that starts today.

Even though India is a food surplus country, a huge quantity of food gets wasted because of poor management of the value chain. Berg said, “At a time when India is hoping to boost its exports to the European Union, it becomes very important that the country adopts best practices so that it could grow best and throw away lesser. And this would facilitate the country’s admission into the international markets”.

As per few sources, Dutch companies could help in proposing or recommending technologies that would reduce water usage in agriculture - boost yields and preserve food etc.
