Andhra Pradesh CM, Jagan Mohan Reddy on 15th October 2019 launched his flagship ‘Rythu Bharosa’ scheme that provides a cash incentive for farm inputs in Nellore district.

The Chief Minister said that “The scheme will change the history of cultivators in the state. This is the maximum support provided to farmers out of all 29 states of the country” adding that his government has launched the scheme 8 months earlier than promised.

Jagan also released an amount of Rs 3,785 crore towards 38 lakh growers in the state. With enrolments continuing till 15th November, the number of beneficiaries is likely to increase. The amount will be deposited by Wednesday (16th October 2019), he said.

To recall, the farmer welfare scheme was one amongst the nine key promises made by the YSRCP in its election manifesto. The CM also announced that within this year farm input stores will be started at the village level, where good quality seeds, pesticides & fertilisers will be made available so that cultivators do not suffer losses due to adulterated inputs.

Also it is important to mention that the YSR Rythu Bharosa replaces the previous TDP government’s ‘Annadata Sukhibhava’ scheme that was introduced in February 2019 in the run-up to the elections.

Benefits of Rythu Bharosa

Under Rythu Bharosa scheme, land holder farmers owning up to 5 acres will be given with an annual benefit of Rs 13,500.

Landless cultivators or tenant farmers from SC, ST, BC and minority groups are also eligible for the incentive. The amount includes the annual benefit of Rs 6,000 per family provided by the Centre under the PM KISAN Yojana.

A government order issued on 14th October said that an amount of Rs 5,510 crore has been issued towards the scheme. In addition, the previous government’s beneficiary list included around 43 lakh farmers, Jagan Reddy reportedly said that over 51 lakh farmers will be covered under Rythu Bharosa.
