Solar Pump Yojana: Online Registration Process, Eligibility and Subsidy Structure Explained

To fulfill Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of doubling farmer’s income by 2022, the central government has been initiating several schemes to provide sustainable profitability to the farmers of the country.

In order to fulfill Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of doubling farmer’s income by 2022, the central government has been initiating many schemes to provide sustainable profitability to the farmers of the country. Maintaining the profitability of farmers is one of the major challenges in the current scenario of Indian agriculture.

To bridge this gap, the government has launched many initiatives, out of which few stand out properly and others did not. In this series, KUSUM (Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Uhaan Mahaabhiyan) promises to fulfill the irrigation and water problems of farmers by providing a 60% subsidy to the farmer for setting up of pump sets and tube wells on their land.

Moreover, this Solar Pump Scheme, which was announced by former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley during the Union Budget 2018-19, is all set to run diesel / electric pumps used for irrigation across the country with solar energy where farmers have to spend only 10% of the total expenditure.

What is PM KUSUM Yojana?

Ministry of New and Renewable Energy department of India has launched the scheme to subsidies the farmers with solar irrigation pumps (SIPs) in their farms. This scheme will help farmers to generate power for their tubewells. The scheme aims to add solar and another renewable capacity of 25,750 MW by 2022 with the total central financial support of Rs. 34,422 Crore including service charges to the implementing agencies. The solar pumps will not only assist to irrigate the farms but also allow generating safe energy. Farmers can also sell extra power to power supply companies. it will help them to generate extra income for himself.

Subsidy Structure of Solar Scheme

Under the scheme, the farmer will get subsidy on new and improved solar-powered pumps. The farmers will have to spend only 10% of the total expenditure to acquire an install a solar pump and 60% cost will be handled by govt and the remaining 30% will be taken care of by the bank as credit.

Kusum Yojana Details

  • The central government will spend total of 1.48 Lakh Core huge amounts to give the facility of the solar pump to around 3 Core farmers by 2022.

  • The government will give a 60 % subsidy while the bank will credit a 30% amount to farmers' accounts. Farmers have to spend just a 10% amount on their own.

What is the Eligibility for Kusum Yojana?

  • Applicants should be a farmer and should have a valid Aadhaar Card on his name.

  • Farmers must also hold a valid bank account.

How to Apply for KUSUM Yojana

Kusum Yojana Online Application Procedure

The online procedure of Kusum Yojana has finally released. The farmers can easily apply for the Kusum Yojana through the following procedure specified below.

Access the Portal

Step 1: First, the farmers have to visit the official site of Kusum Yojana.

 https://kusum.online/register/- (website is under maintenance and it will open soon)

Login to Portal

Step 2: Now, you can log in with the reference number on the homepage of the portal.

Step 3: After you have logged in to the portal, you can fill out the online application form to take the Kusum solar pump.

Apply for the Scheme

Step 4: The farmer has to click on the “Apply” button that is visible on the home page.

Registration Form

Step 5: Upon clicking on the apply button, the farmer will be taken to the registration page.

Step 6: The application form for the Kusum Yojana will be displayed on the screen as shown below:

Fill in the Right Credentials

Step 7: Now you need to enter all the requested details in the application form.

Step 8: Enter the details such as farmers' names, mobile numbers, e-mail address, and other information.

Submit the Application Form

Step 9: After completing all the details, the farmer must click on the submit button to complete the registration process.

Acknowledgment Number

Step 10: On submitting the application form, the farmer will receive the message stating “Successfully Registered”.
