Tribal Women Awarded for Their Food Processing Unit

The Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) has recognized the remarkable work of tribal women in the area in the field of food processing.

Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma, minister of state for MSME, presented the award for the manufacture of agricultural food products and the promotion of women's entrepreneurship.

On Monday, the MSME ministry hosted the 'Five Trillion Dollar Economy – Investment and Business Summit-cum-Awards' event in New Delhi.

Women from the tribal-dominated Kondagaon area have founded Udaan Mahila Kisan Producer Company, which makes and sells agricultural food products under the brand name Kondanar, according to authorities from the Chhattisgarh women and child welfare department.

This company has ten directors and more than 30 women's self-help groups (SHGs) active. Pickles, chutneys, milkshakes, cookies, 'Tikhurs,' coconut oil, and other foods are produced by these women SHGs.

According to the Kondagaon collector, this enterprise has provided regular employment to more than 200 indigenous women, who are paid a minimum of Rs7, 500 a month.

Kondanar is becoming a popular brand in India and around the world, according to Meena.

Kondagaon's Udan goods were also featured on the Dubai Expo's virtual platform.

This brand's products piqued the curiosity of people from all around the world, according to the collector.

The Chief Minister hailed the state's indigenous women, saying they have evolved into social entrepreneurs and a source of inspiration for many.

Baghel remarked that their effort and perseverance have given the traditional taste a new personality.
