Need to Create Awareness on Nutritional Benefits of Chicken, Egg and Meat

An interactive session was held, wherein poultry farmers and technical persons involved in poultry industry interacted and offered suggestions for developing a suitable action plan to create awareness and to counter the false propaganda about chicken egg and meat consumption. The ICAR-Directorate of Poultry Research, Hyderabad had organized a “Scientists’- Farmers’ Meet” in collaboration with Dr. Chicken, RR Foods, Hyderabad.

An interactive session was held, wherein poultry farmers and technical persons involved in poultry industry interacted and offered suggestions for developing a suitable action plan to create awareness and to counter the false propaganda about chicken egg and meat consumption.

The ICAR-Directorate of Poultry Research, Hyderabad had organized a “Scientists’- Farmers’ Meet” in collaboration with Dr. Chicken, RR Foods, Hyderabad.

Dr. R.N. Chatterjee, Director, ICAR-DPR highlighted the poultry production’s status in the country. He also highlighted the myths and misconceptions about chicken, egg and meat consumption and their implications in the poultry production.

Dr. S. Ravinder Reddy, RR Foods highlighted the poultry industry’s efforts for educating the consumers and creating the awareness on nutritional benefits of chicken, egg and meat.

Dr. V. Ramasubba Reddy, Retd. Professor (Poultry Science), Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University, Hyderabad outlined the nutritional values of eggs and chicken and their health benefits.

The poultry farmers and technical persons involved in poultry industry interacted and provided the suggestions to develop an Action Plan for creating the awareness and countering the false propaganda about chicken, egg and meat consumption during the Interactive Session.

The main aim of the programme was to understand the issues and solutions related to egg, chicken and meat consumption.

A total of 84 participants attended the meeting, attended the event, which included the Scientific staff from DPR, faculty and PG/PhD students from PVNR Telangana Veterinary University, representative from National Egg Coordination Committee (NECC)poultry farmers, senior poultry professionals, representatives, field veterinarians and persons involved in marketing chain of the poultry industry.
