Mandi Update: Average Wholesale Price of Urad Dal Rises, Tur Dal Drops

Among all the regions, Uttar Pradesh saw an 8.3% fall in tur dal’s prices to around Rs 11,378 per quintal, followed by Maharashtra with a 1.2% fall to Rs 14,500.

The wholesale prices of urad dal rose while those of tur dal fell across the benchmark markets as of April 17, 2024, according to the data from the Agmarknet portal run by the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. The month-on-month average wholesale prices of urad dal increased by Rs 153.3 to Rs 11,874 per quintal while those of tur dal declined by Rs 41 to Rs 12,967 per quintal.

Among all the regions, Maharashtra saw the largest increase in wholesale prices of urad dal by 6.9% to Rs 13,500 per quintal, followed by Uttar Pradesh with a 1.4% increase to Rs 10,135. However, its wholesale prices dropped marginally in Karnataka and West Bengal. In Karnataka the prices fell by a percent to Rs 12,987 per quintal, and in West Bengal by 0.4% to Rs 11,842.

Tur dal’s wholesale prices dropped as of April 17, according to the ministry data. Its month-on-month average wholesale prices fell to Rs 12,967 per quintal from Rs 13,008. Among all the regions, Uttar Pradesh saw the largest fall of 8.3% to around Rs 11,378 per quintal, followed by Maharashtra with a 1.2% fall to Rs 14,500.
