Virtual Celebration of National Garlic Day

Garlic is loved by people from all over the world for its culinary and medicinal properties. Garlic was discovered over 7000 years ago in Asia. It is regarded as one of the most important flavouring bulbs used throughout history.

The people of the mediaeval and Renaissance periods were the first to use garlic in cooking, but it was only used in small amounts in sauces because it was considered a pungent food. It wasn't until the late 1800s that chefs recognised the value of garlic. There are several ingredients that are indispensable in an Indian kitchen, and one of the most common is garlic.

Apart from its delicious flavour and aroma, garlic is regarded as one of the most effective foods for treating health problems and providing benefits such as detoxification and weight loss. Garlic can also help the circulatory and digestive systems, as well as boost the immune system, lower blood pressure, and fight heart disease. Aside from these benefits, garlic has a low calorie and fat content, which aids in weight loss. Garlic, according to experts, is also high in vitamins, minerals, antiviral, and antibacterial compounds. This immune system boosts our body's defences and aids in the fight against a variety of seasonal infections, including the common cold and cough, as well as CORONA.

Garlic is a popular bulb crop in India, where it is used as a spice or a condiment. Garlic is grown in most states in our country, but it is primarily grown in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Tamil Nadu. However, because of suitable soil and variety, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh account for more than half of all garlic production. We also have a variety of varieties that can be grown in all weather conditions, which is why India exports fresh and chilled garlic, dried garlic, dehydrated garlic flakes, dehydrated garlic powder, and garlic oil to Bahrain, Bangladesh, Germany, and Japan.

On the occasion of National Garlic Day on April 19, 2022, at 4:00 p.m., Krishi Jagran will hold a virtual celebration with the theme "Synonymous of Immunity and Health: Garlic the Solution."
