Cargill, a US food company, has opened a new headquarters for its India unit in Gurugram, Haryana, as well as a new Cargill Business Services (CBS) office in Bengaluru. According to a company statement, the event marked the 35th year of the company's operations in India.

Patricia A Lacina, Charge d'Affaires at the US Embassy in New Delhi, along with Ross Hamou-Jennings, Cargill's APAC Chair, and Simon George, Cargill India President, officially opened the new headquarters. It became operational on August 2nd (Tuesday).

Cargill began operations in India in 1987 with a small liaison office and now has a pan-India presence in refined oils, food ingredients, industrial specialties, grain and oilseeds, cotton, animal nutrition, and trade and capital markets.

The Gurugram office has 300 seats and is 35,000 square feet, so there is plenty of open space. According to the statement, it is also heavily invested in technology solutions to promote agility and meet customer needs.

CBS has grown to become Cargill's largest global capability centre, and it has played a critical role in unlocking Cargill's potential. The new facility, located on Bengaluru's Outer Ring Road, is two lakh square feet in size.

Lacina stated in her speech that the United States and India were partners in innovation, food security, and trade facilitation.

"Gurugram and Bengaluru are talent hubs in India," said Simon George, "and we have the most employees in these locations." As a result, they are the location of these newly opened workspaces. This is a significant milestone to commemorate Cargill's 35th anniversary in India and the 75th anniversary of the Indo-US partnership."

Food Innovation Center

Cargill also officially opened the Food Innovation Center in Gurugram as part of its 35th-anniversary celebration. The Centre was established earlier this year to co-create product innovations in accordance with India's progressive food standards.

In India, commercial trials of a postbiotic brand called EpiCor have begun in the last six months. EpiCor, which has been approved by the FSSAI, aims to improve the gut health of its customers. In addition, the Centre is collaborating with its customers on sugar and salt (low sodium) reduction in culinary sauces, as well as low saturated and no-trans-fat formulation in bakery products.
