In line with the Centre's vision of making India a global drone hub by 2030, the Indian Drone Association (IDA) organised the first-ever Global Drone Expo 2022 in Chennai in collaboration with Garuda Aerospace.

Representatives from 14 international drone companies attended the expo, which was inaugurated by PC Mohan, Member of Parliament for Bangalore Central.

"The global drone Expo 2022 intends to bring together industry experts, agricultural farmers, dealers, distributors, people from the banking sector, insurance sector, and the vast majority of stakeholders associated with the drone ecosystem in India," said Agnishwar Jayprakash, Founder and CEO of Garuda Aerospace.

Drone Expo 2022 is primarily intended to attract investors, youth, and other relevant stakeholders interested in exploring their potential and collaborating in the drone industry.

"The motivation for organising Drone Expo 2022 is to help India transform into a global hub by 2030. The expo has attracted over 1,500 delegates from 14 different countries. We have representation in 28 states and several union territories," Jayaprakash added.

Anand Kumar Das, President of the Indian Drone Association and former Wing Commander in the Indian Air Force, stated that the Association will aid in the development of the country's drone ecosystem.

"Over the last 3-4 years, our Prime Minister has always prioritised the drone industry by liberalising drone regulations and announcing progressive policies that will greatly support the indigenous drone ecosystem," Das said.

Kanchana, a representative from the National Agro Foundations in Chennai, stated, "I am delighted to be attending the drone global expo here. As someone who works in agriculture, I believe drones will be the answer in the future. More drone pilots for the agriculture sector will be required in the coming days."
