With the country being hit by the contagious pandemic Coronavirus, the government of India is extending its full potential to combat the spread of Coronavirus. The most severely hit state of the country, Maharashtra has been locked down for many weeks yet the situation doesn’t seem to be in full control. Looking at the current position, Mumbai-based Mahindra & Mahindra has come forward to give their share in the fight against COVID-19.

The company has recently updated that they will be providing tractors to the Municipal Corporations to the state of Maharashtra for sanitization purposes. Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director (Auto and Farm Sector), Mahindra Board, has broken out the information on his social media account.

The Mahindra tractors, which will be used for the sanitization purpose, are equipped with sprayers and are being used by various municipalities in Maharashtra. The tractors are mounted with sprayers and are equipped with a computer balanced fan with counter-veins and equalizer cone technology that delivers uniform high-volume air output for a chemical penetration which is efficient and gives lesser load on the tractor.

For Mahindra tractors, this is a role change as these tractors are usually deployed on farms in vegetable-growing fields to spray crop protection chemicals like pesticides and insecticides, and not in the local roads and lanes.

This is not the first time that Mahindra Group has taken an active measure for the Coronavirus pandemic. On 30th March, the company had begun manufacturing face shields at its Kandivali manufacturing plant in Mumbai. The company has also offered its resorts to give temporary healthcare facilities to pandemic-hit people across India. Anand Mahindra, the Chairman of Mahindra Group, had earlier announced that he would offer 100% of his salary to deal with the alarming situation of Coronavirus.
