The ICAR National Institute for Plant Biotechnology has released an advertisement (Advertisement No.- 2001-2019/RA/304771) inviting applications from eligible Indian nationals for the position of Research Associate. The recruitment drive aims to bolster research efforts in the project titled "Enhancing climate resilience and ensuring food security with genome editing tools," funded by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research. Under the project, the focus lies on leveraging genome editing tools to enhance climate resilience and ensure food security. The tenure of the engagement will be for one year from the date of appointment or until the termination of the project, whichever occurs earlier.

The institute is offering five positions for Research Associates, with the possibility of an increase in the number of posts. The monthly emoluments are fixed as follows:

1. Rs. 49,000/- + 27% HRA for Master’s degree holders.

2. Rs. 54,000/- + 27% HRA for PhD degree holders.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the following essential qualifications:

1. For Master’s degree holders: A Master’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Life Science, Botany, Genetics, Plant Breeding, Plant Pathology, Plant Physiology, or Microbiology with at least 60% marks or equivalent GPA, along with a minimum of three years of research experience and at least one research paper in a Science Citation Index (SCI)/NAAS rated (≥4) Journal.

2. For PhD degree holders: A PhD degree in the aforementioned fields.

Additionally, desirable qualifications include research experience in plant molecular biology, gene cloning, plant transformation, tissue culture, and wet lab work.

Interview Process

• Interested candidates can attend the Walk-In-Interviews on April 24, 2024. Those opting for online interviews must submit their application forms and scanned copies of original documents by April 12, 2024. The institute will send the interview link only to eligible candidates via email.

• Applicants are required to bring two copies of the application form, along with two self-attested copies of all relevant documents, for verification during the interview. The original documents must also be presented.

Important Instructions

• The upper age limit for male candidates is 40 years and for female candidates is 45 years, with relaxation applicable for OBC Non-Creamy layer/SC/ST/PH candidates as per Government of India rules.

• Candidates must arrive at least 60 minutes before the interview reporting time.

• The positions are purely temporary and contractual, subject to termination with one month's notice.
