7th Pay Commission: Latest Updates on Govt Employees' Pay Scale Hike

Karnataka government has given retired Chief Secretary K. Sudhakar Rao the responsibility to chair the 7th pay commission and given six months to make its recommendations while the regulations for ward entitlement at private hospitals empaneled under CGHS have been changed by the Department of Health & Family Welfare (DHFW).

Basavaraj Bommai, the chief minister, has given the 7th Pay Commission, led by retired Chief Secretary K. Sudhakar Rao, six months to make its recommendations.

The State Government has appointed P.B. Ramamurthy, a retired IAS officer, and Srikanth B. Vanavalli, a retired Principal Director from the Department of Auditing and Accounts, as members of the Panel. Hepsiba Rani Korlapati, a joint secretary from the Department of Infrastructure, will serve as the Panel's member-secretary.

It would recommend bearing in mind fiscal responsibility and other financial duties in line with the 2022 guidelines, according to a statement from the Chief Minister's office.

The Commission will analyze everything, including the pay scales for government employees, employees of aided educational institutions, non-teaching university faculty (with the exception of those receiving the UGC/AICTE/ICR pay scale), parks, and retirement residences, and then submit a report to the State Government.

Allotment of Wards in Private Hospitals Under CGHS as per 7 CPC Salary:

Meanwhile, the regulations for ward entitlement at private hospitals empaneled under CGHS have been changed by the Department of Health & Family Welfare (DHFW). According to the 7th Pay Commission's recommendations, the ward entitlement will now be determined by the Central Government officer's Basic Pay.

According to the department's most recent ruling, Central Government employees who earn a basic salary of more than Rs. 50,500 are eligible for private hospital wards that are empaneled under the CGHS. Employees who receive up to Rs 36,500 in basic pay are entitled to stay in private hospitals' general wards.

Additionally, personnel with Basic Pay in the range of Rs 36,501 to Rs 50,500 are eligible for semi-private wards. "In partial modification to this Ministry's O.M. of even number dated 9th January 2017, the undersigned is directed to say that entitlement of wards in private hospitals empanelled under CGHS as contained in Para 3(B8) of the O.M. ibid stands revised," the DHFW stated in an Office Memorandum dated October 28, 2022.

With effect from October 28, 2022, the following limits would apply to the ward entitlement: General: up to Rs. 36,500 Semi-Private: from Rs. 36,501 to Rs. 50,500 Private: over Rs. 50,500

HBA at 7.1%:

Another good news for central government workers is the extension of the House Building Advance (HBA) at 7.1% interest provision through March 31, 2023. According to the 7th Pay Commission's recommendations, the current HBA is offered.

According to HBA regulations, Central Government Employees are eligible to receive up to Rs 25 lakh at a very low rate of 7.1% for a variety of purposes, including the purchase of a new apartment, the building of a new home on their own land, or the extension of the current home in which they are residing.
