Farmers to Protest Outside Raj Bhawans Across India Today: Metro Stations in Delhi to Remain Closed for Few Hours

The Samyukt Kisan Morcha, an umbrella body of the 40 farmers union has decided to stage demonstration outside Raj Bhawans across country on 26th June to mark the seven months of protest against the Centre’s three farm laws on Delhi borders.

The farmers have said that they observe the day as Kheti bachao, Loktantra Bachao Diwas.

Inderjit Singh, the vice president of All India Kisan Sabha in Haryana said that 26th June, 1975, was a black day in India’s History. On this day, government had announced the Emergency and the present situation of India is not far from that. This is like an undeclared emergency.

He said “Our agitations against the farm laws completes the seven months on 26th June, we will observe the day as Kheti Bachao, Loktantra Bachao Diwas and we will protest outside the Raj Bhawans across the country”.

The SKM submitted a memorandum to the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind and urged him to ask the Centre to immediately repeal the three “anti-farm laws”. SKM also conveyed the Anguish & Deep anger of crores of farming families of the country through this memorandum.

Along with the anguish & anger, it is also written that “The historical movement of the famers is led by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha, is not just a movement to save the farming family & farmers of the country but it is also the democracy of our country”.

The Yellow line of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will be shut for four hours on Saturday 26th June, because of the farmer’s protest.

As a precautionary measure, The Delhi Police have advised, the three metro stations of yellow line namely, Civil Lines, Vishwavidyalaya and Vidhan Sabha will remain close for security reasons of public from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on 26th June, 2021 (Saturday).
