Fertilizer Association of India (FAI), is holding its “Annual Seminar 2021”, on the theme “Challenges in Fertilizer & Agriculture Industry” from 1-3 December at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, India. Today was the second day of this seminar which started at 11 am.
The day was divided in to 2 sessions and the topics discussed in these sessions were: “The Challenges of Indian Fertilizer Sector” and “Meeting Challenges in Agriculture” respectively.
He has a vast experience of over 30 years as Scientist & techno-administrator in National Agriculture Research System.
There were presentations on issues related to economic policies, climate-resilient agriculture, technological advancements in fertilizer production, and efficiency in the marketing of fertilizer products.
The event was graced by different personalities from the Industry who shared their views on different topics. The whole second session on Meeting Challenges in Agriculture was moderated by Dr. S.K. Malhotra, Agriculture Commissioner, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare.
He focused on increasing productivity of soil i.e yield per hectare. he said, "We have limited land and an ever-increasing population to feed, so, it becomes imperative that we focus on increasing the productivity of land and Agriculture Inputs such as fertilizers play an important role in this. The country needs a well put input system to achieve our goal"
He went on to introduce all the topics that were to be discussed in the second session including Water Management, Innovations in Plant Nutrient Management, Climate Smart Agriculture & Developments in Fertiliser (Control) Order.
Dr Malhotra is providing leadership in agriculture policy planning, program development, monitoring, and execution of National R&D mission activities. He also represented India in 15 international programs. Recent contributions are development of CCFFV, FAO CODEX standards for okra, aubergine and potato.
