In a bid to bring farmers close to market players, Gram Unnati, India’s first integrated agri-tech solutions company, conducted a buyer-seller meet here in Bhoola Bhulania, Riccha Block, Bareilly, that saw the participation of 100 paddy farmers and five large-scale local buyers on Thursday.

The buyer-seller meet was organized by Gram Unnati to help farmers discuss their concerns with the buyers and the buyers to explain their requirements, terms, and conditions to the farmers. This meet also helped farmers and buyers comprehend one another's needs and problems.

Commenting on the meet, Aneesh Jain, CEO, Gram Unnati, said, “We were overwhelmed with the response that we got from the meet. Nearly 100 farmers were a part of this meet, and it is testament to the fact that such initiatives are the need of the hour to bring in transparency in the market. Numerous studies have demonstrated that buyers find it difficult to communicate directly with farmers, which prevents them from obtaining the correct quality of goods, while farmers find it difficult to access markets, which lowers their price realization. We are looking forward to more such meets that would bridge the gap between farmers and buyers.”

Farmers utilized the event to comprehend local buyers' needs and communicated to the buyers’ issues with respect to market linkage of their produce, including logistical challenges.

Lauding the initiative, Inderpal Singh, Plant Protection Officer, Riccha block (Department of Agriculture) said, “It was a very good platform for farmers and buyers to come together and understand each other's requirements and clear doubts. Farmers were very interactive and Gram Unnati did a great job in organizing such a meet in the village with a large gathering of farmers. Both buyers and farmers seemed satisfied after the meeting. We hope more such gatherings are organized in future.”

Prospective buyers were also able to specify their needs and provide farmers with a certain level of assurance over the market linkage of their produce that would boost the confidence of paddy farmers. The Gram Unnati team and its experts will ensure farmers ongoing support and direction to assist them in meeting buyer needs.

Gram Unnati has also lined up a series of such meets across western Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Haryana, and Maharashtra.
