On the sidelines of the PBD, President Ali also met with Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Indore on January 10. The two leaders discussed the possibility of collaborating in the trade and industry sectors during their meeting. CM Chouhan also presented the Guyanese president with tribal paintings from Madhya Pradesh.
Ali also agreed to sign agreements under which Madhya Pradesh and Guyana would collaborate in the food processing, agriculture, and irrigation sectors. According to a statement from MP's Department of Public Relations, they also proposed to collaborate in these areas using innovative technology.
Ali also met with President Droupadi Murmu during his visit to India. "President Droupadi Murmu held wide-ranging discussions with President @DrMohamedIrfaa1 of Guyana in Indore on the sidelines of the 17th PBD Convention," the Guyanese President's Secretariat had earlier tweeted. They talked about expanding cooperation in a variety of areas, including oil and gas, healthcare, training, and capacity building."
On Tuesday, President Murmu presided over the concluding session of the 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan greeted her.
The Convention is the Union government's flagship event, providing an important platform for engaging and connecting with overseas Indians, as well as allowing the diaspora to interact with one another.
The theme for this year's PBD Convention was 'Diaspora: Reliable partners for India's progress in Amrit Kaal'. The PBD Convention attracted over 3,500 diaspora members from nearly 70 countries.
On the sidelines of the flagship event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a postal stamp dedicated to safe and legal migration. Ministry of External Affairs also launched the 'Surakshit Jayen Prashikshit Jayen' (Go Safe, Go Trained) campaign.
The campaign aims to raise public awareness about the importance of traveling for overseas employment through safe and legal channels so that well-informed migrants can seamlessly integrate and have a safe and productive stay abroad.
