AFC India Limited will be hosting the first edition of "Healing Herbs 2023," an international workshop on the promotion of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants, with the goal of bringing together various stakeholders and developing a whitepaper to improve opportunities for investment and the establishment of MSME in the wellness sector.

Theta Foundation for Development will host a workshop on Wednesday, April 12th, 2023, beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the Silver Oak, India Habitat Centre in New Delhi.

The introductory remarks will be delivered by the Chief Guest, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary of the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. The event's goal is to bring together diverse stakeholders, such as the NMPB, the Ministry of AYUSH, progressive growers, the wellness industry, Pharma, Cosmetic, and Nutraceutical Companies, to discuss production, processing, market difficulties, and how to increase market access.

They will also discuss contemporary innovations and breakthroughs in the herbal business, as well as obstacles, value addition marketing, and export. The event aims to highlight the financial feasibility and bankability of projects in the MAP sector, as well as to promote ease of doing business for all stakeholders, while also offering chances for international collaboration and networking.

The market for medicinal plants in India is expected to rise from Rs 8.4 billion to Rs 14 billion by 2026, according to Mashar Velapurath, Managing Director of AFCIL. This seminar's goal is not only to overcome financial and technological gaps, but also to stimulate collaboration among many stakeholders and to facilitate access to Indian and international markets.

Attendees at the workshop will participate in talks on a variety of themes, including prioritised medicinal species, value and supply chain analysis, and the worldwide market potential for medical plant-based products. The conference will cover everything from the state of the medicinal and aromatic plant business to the value of exports.

The conference will feature several distinguished and influential speakers, including Dr. Arun Chandan, Director of the Regional Facilitation Centre at NMPB, HP, who will discuss the NMPB's conservation management initiatives and the marketing of value-added products.

Other notable speakers include Ramesh Chand from NITI Aayog, Mercy Epao, IAS, Joint Secretary, MSME, Government of India, Prof. Dr. Tanuja Manoj Nesari, CEO, NMPB, Ministry of AYUSH Govt. of India, Dr. Arun Chandan, Director Regional cum Facilitation Centre, NMPB, Saravanan Raj, Director (Ag Ext), National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management, General Manager, Dr. RC Uniyal, Emami Group, India, Saravanan Raj, Director (Ag Ext), National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management, Telangana, Taranjeet Singh, CEO, AgNEXT, Punjab, among others.

The Ministry of AYUSH has taken steps to support the cultivation of medicinal plants on farmlands across the country by providing subsidies of 30%, 50%, and 75% for 140 medicinal plants based on their availability and market demand. These subsidies are provided as per the operational guidelines of the Scheme. Under the National AYUSH Mission (NAM) program, the Ministry has sponsored the cultivation of medicinal plants on 56,396 hectares of land. The extent of medicinal plant farming in the country from FY 2015-16 to FY 2020-21 is provided in the Annexure.
