Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department issued a yellow alert on Monday, predicting a cold wave in the south Haryana region, including Gurugram & Faridabad, on December 31.

According to the Meteorological Centre Chandigarh, a regional centre of IMD, a yellow alert (asking authorities to be prepared) has been issued for the south Haryana region, predicting dense fog on December 29-30 and a cold wave on December 31.

"Minimum temperatures will not change significantly over the next 48 hours, but temperatures across the state will drop by three to five degrees thereafter." Light rain in isolated locations is also expected over the region on December 28-29," said Manmohan Singh, director of the Meteorological Centre Chandigarh.

The maximum temperature in Gurugram on Monday was 20.3°C, while the minimum temperature was 11°C, both of which was five degrees above normal, according to the IMD.

Minimum Temperature 1st January 2022 will be 5°C

According to the IMD's weekly forecast, the maximum temperature will be around 19-20°C over the next five days, while the minimum temperature will drop by five degrees and be around 5°C on January 1.

Meanwhile, after five days, the city's air quality improved from 'very poor' to 'poor' on Monday. According to the Central Pollution Control Board's 4 p.m. bulletin, Gurugram's air quality index on Monday was 250, with PM 2.5 as the primary pollutant. The city had an AQI reading of 375 on Sunday.

According to the Air Quality Early Warning System for Delhi-weather NCR's bulletin, air quality over the national capital territory is expected to remain in the 'poor' to 'moderate' category on Tuesday and 'poor' category on Wednesday. According to the bulletin, rain on Sunday significantly improved air quality.

Weather Across States:

Over north Pakistan, a western disturbance has formed. On Monday, it is expected to affect the Western Himalayan Region and surrounding areas. On Monday, scattered snow or rain is expected in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, with scattered rain in Haryana and Delhi.

Meanwhile, on Monday, an induced cyclonic circulation is present over west Rajasthan. On Tuesday and Wednesday, the system is expected to intensify and move eastward. On Tuesday, it is expected to bring widespread rain with lightning over east Uttar Pradesh, as well as scattered rain with lightning over Central India and adjoining East India.

On Wednesday, the cyclonic circulation is expected to produce scattered rain with lightning over East and Northeast India.
