J&K Addl Chief Secy Emphasizes Role of FPOs in Driving Agricultural Sector Growth

On April 8, Jammu & Kashmir Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture Production Department Atal Dulloo met with Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) from the Jammu division at Kissan Kendra in Tala Tiloo.

The interactive programme was attended by the Director Agriculture Jammu, Director Horticulture Jammu, distinguished academics and scholars from SKUAST-J, other top officers of APD, representatives of FPOs, and CBBOs.

Through video conference, the Director Agriculture Kashmir, Managing Director JKHPMC, and other relevant personnel took part in the programme.

FPO is a farmer-producer organization that provides small farmers with end-to-end services spanning practically all elements of cultivation, from inputs to technical services to processing and marketing.

Dulloo stated that the agency is committed to providing all essential assistance to FPOs. Dulloo urged FPO representatives to instill faith in farmers and mobilize them so that more farmers will join them.

Speaking at the event, Atal Dulloo emphasized the importance of FPOs in the growth and development of the agriculture industry, as well as how they may help farmers double their revenue. According to the ACS, FPOs may play a critical role in increasing farmer income, creating job opportunities, and maintaining regional food security.

He also asked them to create farmer awareness seminars regarding the need of FPOs, as well as the necessary training for the development of these organizations.

During his speech, Dulloo told the FPO representatives that their issues would be addressed and that the government will provide all necessary help to FPOs in order for them to overcome their challenges.
