The three-day Pusa Krishi Vigyan Mela 2022, organized by the ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) and led by Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar, was inaugurated today by Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Kailash Choudhary. The occasion was presided over by Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary, DARE and Director General, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).
Chowdhary dedicated the "Pusa Agri Krishi Haat Complex," a two-acre development, to the country on this occasion. Farmers and Farmer Producer Organizations will be able to sell their products directly in the "Pusa Agri Krishi Haat Complex," which was inaugurated today.
Consumers will be able to buy directly from farmers, eliminating the need for middlemen, thanks to this facility. In this massive complex, there are 60 stalls, haats, and shops to encourage farmer entrepreneurship.
The event attracted thousands of progressive farmers, women entrepreneurs, and start-ups from all around the country. Chowdhary praised the Pusa Institute's efforts on behalf of farmers and encouraged them to take full advantage of modern technology and scientific advancements.
He stated that the government is providing farmers with facilities from seed to market, as part of the work being done by the government of India for the interests of farmers and initiatives linked to agriculture conceived by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Indian agriculture is progressing as a result of farmers' hard labor and scientific research.
Young people are becoming more interested in agriculture. Shri Chowdhary stated that the Prime Minister has consistently increased the Ministry of Agriculture's budget, which is now Rs 1.32 lakh crore, up from roughly 23 thousand crores seven years ago.
More than half of the current budget is being paid directly into farmers' bank accounts through the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, demonstrating the government's sensitivity to farmers, while the Swaminathan Committee's recommendations have been approved by Modi's government.
According to Chowdhary, the government has expanded purchases as well as implemented MSP by increasing the rate on more crops.
The government's efforts and the hard work of the farmers have resulted in a record increase in the output of food grains, especially pulses.
All of these efforts demonstrate that the government is working to make the country self-sufficient by empowering farmers. He urged farmers to move forward and take advantage of the government's plans in conjunction with them.
