Now farmers from every village can become journalists and make their voices heard, thanks to Krishi Jagran’s “Farmer the Journalist” initiative. Through this initiative, farmers are also given the opportunity to work with Krishi Jagran.

On July 20, 2022, an online training session of Farmer the Journalist was held, in which farmers were taught how they can also work as journalists along with farming. More than 25 farmers were trained as a result of this training program.

In the training session of Farmer the Journalist, Shruti Joshi (Content Manager Hindi) on behalf of Krishi Jagran warmly welcomed the farmers and provided training to them to become Farmer the Journalist.

Continuing the conversation, Sanjay Kumar, Content Head, Krishi Jagran said that “People become journalists after doing a course of 3-4 years of mass communication, but through Krishi Jagran, farmers can become journalists. This is a great opportunity for all of you”.

He further said that “You have a plus point that you are a farmer and you already have knowledge related to farming and crops, so through this campaign, you can get more knowledge in the relevant field”.

Farmer the Journalist Programme

The aim of the Farmer the Journalist initiative is to help farmers so that they themselves can reach out to the people.

Krishi Jagran is working as a voice for those farmers, who want to make their problems and issues accessible to all the people. Farmers can tell whether they are getting necessary information from Krishi Vigyan Kendras or not.

Farmers can share the videos of their work and send them to the Krishi Jagran Team. The videos then can be shared on YouTube, Facebook, and other social media platforms by Krishi Jagran.

Under the Farmer the Journalist campaign, if the videos of the farmers get posted on any of the Krishi Jagran social media platforms, they will be rewarded with Rs.100 per video. Krishi Jagran will take the problems of the farmers to the higher authorities through their platforms so that their solutions can be found at the earliest.

Things to Keep in Mind While Making the Videos

  • Always record the video in landscape mode.

  • Make sure that no other sound or music is playing in the video.

  • The quality of the video should be good.

  • Do not shake the mobile phone while making the video.

  • In the video, first introduce yourself, after giving information about the related topic.

What Topics Can be Chosen for Videos?

Farmers can make videos on any topic related to agriculture, which includes agriculture, animal husbandry, horticulture, poultry, fisheries, integrated farming, nature, etc. Farmers can talk to the scientist of their nearest Krishi Vigyan Kendra, interview them and share the videos with Krishi Jagran.
