KVK Delhi Starts Preparation of Pusa Decomposer Solution

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ujwa, Delhi has started the preparation of "Pusa Decomposer Solution" under the project "In-situ Management of Crop Residue" on 23rd October 2021 in the presence of Dr. Naveen Aggarwal, District Collector and Deputy Commissioner, South-West Delhi District, Delhi, and Amit Kale, (I.P.), Deputy District Magistrate, Najafgarh, South-West Delhi District, Delhi.

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ujwa, Delhi has started the preparation of "Pusa Decomposer Solution" under the project "In-situ Management of Crop Residue" on 23rd October 2021 in the presence of Dr. Naveen Aggarwal, District Collector and Deputy Commissioner, South-West Delhi District, Delhi, and Amit Kale, (I.P.), Deputy District Magistrate, Najafgarh, South-West Delhi District, Delhi.

Dr. Aggarwal told that farmers should adopt Pusa Bio Decomposer Technology developed by the Indian Agricultural Research Institute Pusa, New Delhi, which will help farmers in stubble management. Dr. P. K. Gupta, President, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ujwa, Delhi informed about the method of preparation and spraying of bio-decomposer solution and increasing the biomass material in the soil.

Moreover, he also advised the farmers that the use of de-composer can enhance the amount of biomass in the soil by mixing the residues of other crops with paddy straw in the soil. This year, Krishi Vigyan Kendra is planning to spray Pusa decomposer solution in 50 hectares in South-West Delhi, North Delhi, and North-West Delhi.

About Pusa Decomposer:

Pusa Decomposer- a microbial spray by Indian Agriculture Research Institute (IARI), Delhi, is the ray of hope for an end to paddy residue burning in the paddy fields of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and around Delhi for the last half a decade. 

Only four capsules are enough to convert a hectare of farm waste into useful compost as per a statement by a principal scientist of the Microbiology Division in Pusa. The total cost per acre works out to about Rs 300 and includes the cost of making the concoction with gram, jaggery, blending the capsules in large containers of water, and the cost of labor for spraying. 

During decomposition of the farm waste, the fields retain some moisture and the soil is enriched, reducing the need for fertilizers. The farm fires were killing the crop-friendly insects & worms and decreasing the fertility of the fields. Another quality of the capsule that contains crop-friendly fungi is it has no side effects.
