Celebrities convened at Raju Srivastav’s funeral in Nigambodh Ghat, Delhi today morning to pay one last tribute to the comedy king. Sunil Pal, Ehsan Qureshi, Srivastav’s colleagues from the reality show The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, and filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar were also present for the last rites.

The death of the comic king was mourned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, and Bollywood stars Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar who shared their condolences via Twitter.

"He will always be remembered. He was our teacher," said Sunil Pal, according to ANI.

Earlier reports say that Raju Srivastava's wife was contacted by PM Modi to check on his health and to wish him a quick recovery. Rajnath Singh, the defense minister, and Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, both called Srivastava's family to wish him a speedy recovery, as well.

Srivastav passed away at AIIMS yesterday after being admitted there on August 10 after experiencing chest pain and collapsing while working out at the gym.

Apart from doing stand-up comedy, Raju Srivastava has also played several roles in Hindi movies like "Maine Pyar Kiya," "Baazigar," the "Bombay to Goa" remake, and "Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiya." A little-known fact about him remains that he was the chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh Film Development Council.

"He was a great artist who hid his pain and made everyone laugh without any discrimination. I pray for his resting soul on behalf of the whole country," said Yogi Adiyanath, Chief Minister of UP.
