Warehouses, sanitation and grading units, and dal mills would be built throughout the district as part of the project, he said. The government has been undertaking the Balasaheb Thackeray Agricultural Business and Rural Transformation (SMART) project in the state to establish complete competitive value chains of agricultural products.

Efforts are being made to establish a comprehensive and competitive value chain in order to increase a producer's share of the price paid for produce by a customer.

A grant of Rs 4.96 crore has been awarded to six farmer producer firms as part of the 14 sub-projects to be established in Latur, as per an official.

He stated that grain-based sub-projects have been prioritized because soybean and gramme are key crops in the district.

The SMART Project's goals are to boost farmers' revenue. To make it simple for farmers to sell their produce at markets. It plans to restructure agricultural value chains, with a major focus on marginal farmers in 1,000 villages.

Using the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) paradigm, this project is taking a big step towards the transformation of the rural economy, farmer empowerment, and sustainable agriculture.

It aims to ensure increased agricultural production and to build a strong market system that will allow farmers to earn a higher wage for their harvest. It brings together agriculture-focused corporations and farmers by providing a single platform.
