In keeping with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of making India a developed nation by 2047, the government is working on the Action Plan and Vision Document for India@2047. While addressing water security challenges as part of the India@2047 plan, the Prime Minister has declared the '5P' mantra for sustainability, which includes political will, public financing, partnerships, public participation, and persuasion.
The primary goal of the two-day conference is to gather inputs for the India@2047 and 5P vision from the various water stakeholders of the states, as water is a state subject, as well as to improve engagement and partnership with the states and to share the Ministry of Jal Shakti's initiatives and schemes.
The event will be attended by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Union Minister of Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. Prahlad Singh Patel, Minister of State for Jal Shakti and Food Processing Industries, will also be present at the event. During the Conference, Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, will chair one of the important thematic sessions on Water Governance. State Ministers of Water Resources, Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), and Irrigation from all states/UTs have been invited to develop a blueprint for Water Vision@2047 and a road map to address the country's water problems.
Senior Secretaries of Water Resources, Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), and Irrigation from all states and territories, as well as Agriculture Production Commissioners, will attend the Conference. There will be an exhibition where young innovators/startups will showcase new water-related innovations.
With the goal of enhancing the conference's insights, there will be one Plenary Session that will set the agenda for the Conference with a focus on Water Vision@2047. There will be five thematic sessions at the Conference.

The first thematic session focuses on "Water Security in Water Deficit, Water Surplus, and Hilly Regions." The second thematic session focuses on "Water Use Efficiency, including the Reuse of Waste Water/Grey Water," with the goal of achieving community participation at the grassroots level. The Centre's 3rd Thematic Session on "Water Governance" aims to break down silos in the water sector by bringing together various states.
The fourth thematic session addresses the current state of climate change in the country as well as the steps that must be taken to mitigate the effects of climate change. The 5th Session on Water Quality addresses drinking water, surface water, and groundwater quality issues. The Thematic Sessions were created so that we can all work together to achieve the larger goal of making India a developed nation by 2047.
