Now Change or Update Your Name on Aadhaar Card from Home; Read Complete Process

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has made it easy for people to update or modify details on their Aadhaar card both online and offline. You can easily update your name, residential address, date of birth, mobile number and email ID on the Aadhaar card.

As we know that Aadhaar card is the most important personal identity proof that is used across the country today. You need this (ID proof) for various things like filing income tax and for government grants etc. Now the government has made it mandatory to have Aadhaar card as it is required in every field.

People these days are facing problems as their name or phone number is not correct in various ID proofs especially in Aadhaar card. They want to change or update their name but due to lack of time and knowledge are not able to do so. Keeping this in view, the UIDAI has simplified the process of changing the name on the Aadhar card through the online system that can be easily done from home. Let’s know the process.

How to Update Aadhaar Card Online

Here’s the process to update/change Aadhaar card online:

  • First of all, log in to the online self-service update portal with your Aadhaar number.

  • After that, click on your name or surname, whichever you have to change.

  • Then, attach the scanned copies of the documents on which the correct name is written.

  • After this, an OTP will come on your registered mobile number. You will have to submit the OTP code.

  • You will not have to pay any fees for this online process.

How to Update Aadhaar Card Offline

  • You can also update your Aadhaar card offline by submitting the documents at the nearest service center or post office.

  • Take the necessary documents while going to the service center or post office.

  • The officer in-charge there will scan your documents and give them back.

  • You can also get your biometrics updated here.

  • For the entire process, you will have to pay a fee of Rs 25.

How long does it take to update/change Aadhaar Card?
