According to a statement issued by the Central government on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the "Rozgar Mela" on Saturday (22 October) in an effort to fill existing vacancies against sanctioned posts in a mission mode" and provide jobs to one million people.
Appointment letters will be given 75000 candidates instantly
75,000 candidates will receive appointment letters as part of the recruitment drive during a virtual ceremony tomorrow, according to the official statement.
Opposition parties criticized the Union government for allegedly providing insufficient employment possibilities.
Modi had ordered all ministries and departments to go into "mission mode" on June 14 in order to employ one million people over the course of the following 18 months. The declaration plainly sought to increase employment at a time when high inflation is endangering a nascent economic recovery after the Prime Minister assessed the status of human resources in government establishments.
The decision was made at a time when opposition parties were constantly criticizing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Union government for allegedly providing insufficient employment opportunities.
Vacancies open at 38 central ministries and departments
38 central ministries and departments are having open positions filled through recruitment. At various levels, the appointees will join the government: Groups A, B (with newspaper coverage), B (without newspaper coverage), and C.
The statement stated that appointments were being made for several positions, including Central Armed Force Personnel, Sub Inspector, Constable, LDC, Steno, PA, Income Tax Inspectors, and MTS.
The ministries either handle the hiring efforts themselves or work with institutions like the Staff Selection Commission, Railway Recruitment Board, and Union Public Service Commission. The government stated that selection procedures have been streamlined and made tech-enabled in order to speed up hiring.
Over 900,000 positions are open, with 23,454 in Group A, 118,807 in Group B, and 836,936 in Group C, according to data on hand with the government. According to information presented by the department of personnel and training in Lok Sabha earlier this year, 98% of the openings are in Group-B and Group-C services.
Union minister Jitender Singh had previously stated in a written response to a question in the Lower House that "creation and filling up of posts in the Central Government is the duty of the respective Ministry/Department and it is a continuous process."
Retirement, promotions, resignations, deaths, etc. cause openings in a number of Central Government Ministries/Departments, as well as their attached/subordinate offices. All Central Government Ministries and Departments have been instructed to act urgently to fill open positions," the official continued.
