According to a statement released by an official spokesman, the LG stated that the programme would offer complete coverage against crop losses caused by natural disasters and unseasonal rains while speaking at the launch event for the extension of PMFBY at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Jammu (SKUAST-J).
"The initiative will stabilize farmers' incomes and motivate them to adopt cutting-edge practices with adequate insurance protection against climatic catastrophe.
"I implore all farmers to take advantage of the PM Fasal Bima Yojna," he said. The PMFBY, introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to protect devoted farmers from the whims of nature, was previously only accessible to farmers in four districts. According to the LG, the implementation of PMFBY throughout J&K will have a positive impact on the state's agricultural situation and will support the administration's efforts to foster a progressive environment.
He promised that proper information would be disseminated and that PMFBY would be implemented transparently. The LG claimed that the crop insurance mobile app and the insurance company's toll-free number would make it easier for farmers to report losses. He also emphasized the agriculture reforms that J&K has implemented over the last 30 months.
"Our top priority is the welfare of the farmers. In order to shape the vision of inclusive development, the J&K administration has made significant decisions in the agricultural, horticultural, and related sectors, he said. "I have no doubt that J&K's prosperous future will be led by the agricultural and allied sectors."
An integrated solution to all issues relating to agriculture & allied sectors will be provided, along with a mechanism to reduce wastage and increase production, by the groundbreaking 29 projects worth Rs. 5013 crore. According to the LG, J&K could experience a 12% growth in the agriculture sector if the Holistic Agriculture Development Plan is carefully implemented.
"J&K is the first area in the nation to attempt agriculture reforms on such a large scale. Our goal is to create a lot of jobs in the agricultural sector, protect the financial stability of farmers, especially small and marginal farmers, and make it easier to start new agribusiness enterprises, the official said. "We are moving forward with a strong determination to improve the quality of life for our farming community and other stakeholders in the agriculture and allied sector."
The LG claimed that the administration was encouraging farmers to grow millet crops and encouraging entrepreneurship in the sheep and goat industry. He was grateful that the Agriculture Production and related departments had trained so many farmers. The LG emphasized concerted efforts to make J&K the highest-paying region for farmers and sought public involvement in putting government policies into action.
He reaffirmed the administration's dedication to defending the needs of the populace. The LG declared that "citizen participation is crucial to foster economic growth, strengthening of infrastructure, and services to achieve the goal of a prosperous society." Progressive farmers also expressed their opinions on government initiatives aimed at advancing the agricultural and related industries in J&K.
In order to provide J&K farmers with high-quality, certified seeds, the Agriculture Production Department and National Seeds Corporation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on this occasion. On this occasion, the LG also unveiled the Holistic Agriculture Development Plan's Milestone Report, logo, and Coffee Table Book "Vihan," which details 29 HADP projects. The National Livestock Mission's beneficiary entrepreneurs also received sanction letters as well as the irrigation schedule for the years 2023–2024 for the Kashmir and Jammu divisions.
The Agriculture Production Department launched a dedicated YouTube channel to raise awareness of farmers and highlight their success stories. Atal Dulloo, an additional chief secretary in charge of the agriculture production department, and Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai, vice chancellor of the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J), were also present.
