Thousands of Farmers Attend Savayava Krushi Mela 2020 held in Bangalore

Thousands of farmers attended the Exhibition and Savayava Krushi Mela 2020 in the presence of Sri Sri Ravishankar Gurudev at Art of Living, Bangalore Ashram on February 22-23. The first day witnessed dignitaries like Dr. C.N. Ashwath Narayan Deputy Chief Minister & IT & BT Minister, B. C Patil Minister for Agriculture, Govt, of Karnataka as chief guests. 

Karnataka sees organic farming in about 1.1 lakh acres of land and the government intends to expand it to another 1.5 lakh acres, said Minister for Agriculture Patil.    

"Most of us have forgotten the importance of organic farming and we have poisoned the land," Patil said.  "The problems of farmers are huge. It is only now that we have understood the importance of organic farming. Art of Living's farm model of cultivating 70 varieties of trees in just half an acre of land is an example that others can adopt," he said.  

Founder of Art of Living Sri Sri Ravishankar said, "In Assam and Chhattisgarh, organic farming is very popular. Even the other states should adopt a similar idea. This will eliminate the cost involved in buying chemical fertilisers," he said.   

He said that the true Shiva puja would be to protect the environment.   He added that an agribusiness course is being started by the Sri Sri Institute of Agriculture. 

After that there was Youth Agro Start-up’s Conference and Seminar in which sessions were led by DR. Gururaj Karajagi Director of Academy of Creative Coaching, Shivakumar Subramanyam Founder Pratian TechnolgyDr. Dhanjay I.I.H.R, Shree Dilip Rajan M.D Eaast west seed, and Shree Baskar Reddy Nursery Consultant. 

Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa was the Chief Guest on the second day. He was followed by  Lakshman Savadi, D.C.M and   Minster for Transport, Govt, of Karnataka S.T Somashekar Minister for Co operation. Govt, of Karnataka,  K.C Narayana Gowda, Minister for Horticulture, Govt, of Karnataka, and  Dr. Shivarajkumar Film Actor. 

After the felicitation of above dignitaries there was a Discussion on the Soil Health Conservation by Shree P. Srinivas (Soil Vasu) soil ExpertThe Role of indigenous Seeds in Climate Resilient Agriculture by Dr. Prabhakar Raa Trustee S.S.I.A.S.T, “The Importance of Farmer Producer Organisation*' by Dr. Ashok Alur Vice Chancellor BEST University Andhra Pradesh, and “PGS ORGANIC CERTIFICATION" by Dr. Harish Sri Vatsav Assistant Director (N.C.O.F). 

Sri Sri Institute of Agricultural Sciences and Technology Trust Chairman Shree Ranganath Prasadji and S. R Venkatesh C.E.O along with other Trust members coordinated the whole session with their vibrant presence. 

At Savayaya Krishi Mela three model like Natural farming, Indigenous seed farm, and Vedic agriculture based farms visit was arranged for the dignitaries and farmers.   

Along with that there was an exhibition of more than 100 stalls including Desi seeds, Organic products, Machineries, Cow-based products, Farmer innovators, Sri Sri Agriculture Products etc. 

Overall, it was a new and warming experience to all as they were energised by the divine atmosphere of Ashram and thoughts on saving mother earth by nature based living.
