Training programme on Value addition of milk

A team of experts from Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana (GADVASU) has organised a one day training programme under ICAR, New Delhi sponsored "Farmers First Project" for the women farmers of Dhaner Village, district Barnala. During the programme women farmer's interest group has been trained on methods for the value addition of milk.

A team of experts from Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana (GADVASU) has organised a one day training programme under ICAR, New Delhi sponsored "Farmers First Project" for the women farmers of Dhaner Village, district Barnala. During the programme women farmer's interest group has been trained on methods for the value addition of milk.

Dr. Ravdeep Singh and Dr. Pragya Bhadauria have delivered lectures on self-sustainability, management of the livestock and clean milk production. Dr. Gopika Talwar and Dr. Rekha Chawla have given practical hands on training by making various milk products.

Milk Training

Women farmers have been trained to make paneer and whey drinks of different flavours for value addition of milk at village level. Dr. S.K. Kansal informed that different teams visit the operational area twice or thrice a week to conduct various activities like animal welfare camps, animal treatment camps, training camps, hands on training programmes, farm input distribution camps to benefit the participatory families selected under the project. Dr. Harish Kumar Verma, Director Extension Education cum Nodal Officer of the project said that university is working on other projects as well that are directly or indirectly dedicated to farmers. Talking about this project he further added that the project is benefiting the beneficiaries in terms of creating a lot of awareness among the livestock farmers about the on-going practices and upcoming technologies.
