Rashtrapati Nilayam in Bolarum, Secunderabad, is set to host a 15-day Flower and Horticulture Festival, Udyan Utsav, starting December 29, 2024. Organized in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, the National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE) Hyderabad, and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, the event aims to promote environmental conservation and sustainability while celebrating the beauty of nature.

President Droupadi Murmu visited the Rashtrapati Nilayam on December 18, 2024, to oversee preparations for the event and review visitor amenities. During her visit, she inaugurated a Mitti Café eatery and a souvenir shop at the Visitor Facilitation Centre. Additionally, she explored the campus’s composting unit to observe the process of organic manure production from garden waste. She expressed optimism that the unit would inspire environmentally friendly waste management practices.
The Rashtrapati Nilayam, a historic presidential retreat, remains open to the public year-round, except during the President’s southern sojourn. Visitors can book their slots online at rashtrapatibhavan.gov.in. The Udyan Utsav promises a vibrant celebration of nature, blending education, innovation, and community participation, making it a must-visit event for those passionate about sustainability and green initiatives.
