Vet Varsity's workshop-cum-training program

Directorate of Extension Education, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana organized a one day workshop-cum-training program on "Appropriate Extension Methodologies" for the scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendra’s (KVKs) as well as University those who are regularly engaged in various extension activities. The training programme was attended by 42 scientists from KVKs & different departments of GADVASU. Dr. S.K. Kansal, course coordinator welcomed all the participants. On this occasion Dr H.K. Verma, Director Extension Education-cum-Course Director of the program presided over function whereas Dr. Rajbir Singh, Director ICAR-ATARI, Zone-I, Ludhiana was Chief Guest. Dr. Rajbir Singh appraised the achievement of GADVASU for first rank among the 14 State Veterinary University of India within a short period of time. He also said that, KVKs of GADVASU are doing excellent work with their full dedication and devotion & transferring the need based technologies & extension services for the farming community of Punjab. He assured to the Directorate of Extension Education & KVKs of GADVASU for any type of support & help for the development of KVKs in future. Dr HK Verma addressed the participants regarding "Appropriate Extension Methodologies" and role of Front Line Demonstrations (FLD) and On Farm Trials (OFT) for the KVK scientists and extension personnel who are regularly engaged in different extension activities at field levels. Further he stressed upon the extension approaches by the GADVASU and highlighted the achievements of Varsity and various technologies released by the University for doubling the Farmer’s Income Level and enlightened scope of social media in transferring the need based technologies & extension services for the farming community. Different experts from ICAR-ATARI, Zone-I, PAU & GADVASU were invited for the expert lectures on various topics viz; Innovative livestock extension technologies & approaches, Critical gaps and strategies for revitalizing the extension system, Basics of FLDs and OFTs, Attitude modification for bringing promising extension approaches and methods. Feedback and valedictory function was organized by the Course Director & Course Coordinators of the program, in which feedback from the participants were taken for further betterment of the such type of program. Dr. Y.S. Jadoun, Course Coordinator of the programme extended vote of thanks to all the participants. Dr. A.S. Nanda, Vice Chancellor appreciated the efforts of the Directorate for successfully organizing the workshop. He emphasized on the transfer of innovative livestock technologies from lab to land and strengthening of extension services of GADVASU.
