Weather Alert: These States are Likely to Get Heavy Rainfall Today; Delhi-NCR to Experience Moderate Temperature for 2 Days

A fresh Western Disturbance is very likely to affect Western Himalayan Region (Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand) which is very likely to cause scattered to Fairly widespread rain/thundershowers over Western Himalayan Region and isolated to scattered rain/thundershowers over northern states Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, north Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh) on 17th & 18th April, said the Indian Meteorological Department reports in its morning bulletin.

Moreover, this could also result in isolated thunderstorms/hailstorms and gusty winds over these areas during the same period.  

Heavy Rain Likely to Lash over the Eastern States up to next 7 Days 

Due to the convergence of strong moist winds from the Bay of Bengal, Northeast India (Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura) and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim are very likely to experience fairly widespread to widespread rainfall during next 7 days with varying intensity.  

Adjoining parts of eastern states (Bihar and West Bengal) are also likely to experience similar weather on a few days during this period. Isolated heavy rainfall, thundersqualls & hailstorms are also very likely over these regions during the same period.  

Maximum temperatures in the range of 40-42°C are likely to prevail over parts of Telangana, Rayalaseema and North Interior Karnataka during 24 hours and gradual fall thereafter. Maximum temperatures are likely to fall by 2-3°Cover plains of northwest India and Gujarat during next 2-3 days. 

As per yesterday’s reports, Rain/Thundershowers observed at a few places over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and at isolated places over Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, North Interior Karnataka, south Tamilnadu and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. 

Maximum temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Saurashtra & Kutch and east Assam; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places over Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, East Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Kerala while minimum temperature minimum temperatures were markedly above normal (5.1°C or more) at isolated places over West Rajasthan; appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at a few places over Punjab; at isolated places over Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, West Madhya Pradesh and Madhya Maharashtra.
