Weather Forecast: Many Parts of India to Get Heavy Rainfall in Next 2-5 days; Heat Wave Grips over Rajasthan

The weather department has reported a “trough runs” from central Pakistan to Manipur at lower tropospheric levels and a cyclonic circulation lies over Jharkhand & neighborhood at lower & midtropospheric levels. Under the influence of these systems and its oscillation, widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to continue over east & northeast India during next 5 days. Isolated extremely heavy is also likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and Meghalaya on today, the 18 June, 2020. Central India is also very likely to experience fairly widespread to widespread rainfall activity with isolated heavy to very heavy falls over East Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh during next 5 days, says the Indian Meteorological Department reports.

Heavy Rain to Lash over These Regions in Next 2-3 days

 Light isolated to scattered rain/thundershower very likely over northwest India except Uttrakhand (where fairly widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls is likely) during next 4-5 days.

Heatwave conditions to continue over Rajasthan

Heatwave conditions observed in isolated pockets over West Rajasthan yesterday. Due to likely dry northwesterly winds at lower tropospheric levels over most parts of Rajasthan, heatwave to severe heatwave conditions very likely over Rajasthan during next 2-3 days.

Thundershower Observed at These Places Yesterday

Rain/Thundershowers observed (from 0830 hours IST to 1730 hours IST of today): at most places over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and Konkan & Goa; at many places over Bihar, Telangana and North Interior Karnataka; at a few places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, East Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra, Coastal Karnataka, Kerala & Mahe, Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar Islands and isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, East Uttar Pradesh, Vidarbha, Marathwada and South Interior Karnataka.

Maximum & Minimum Temperature

As per yesterday’s reports, maximum temperatures are appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at a few places over West Rajasthan; at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh and East Rajasthan while minimum temperatures are markedly above normal (5.1°C or more) at isolated places over East Rajasthan; appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at a few places over Uttarakhand.
