In the last 24 hours, parts of Gujarat and Rajasthan have witnessed a significant drop in temperature. In many parts of West Rajasthan, the mercury measured a drop of 2-4 degrees Celsius while the temperature in Gujarat received a drop of 6-7 degrees.

Winter rains are also chilling the winds for the past two days in Rajasthan and Gujarat both. Moderate rains were observed in Sri Ganganagar, Barmer, Jaisalmer, and Bikaner. Western Disturbance is held responsible for the rainfall, however, it has now started moving away. As the rains are expected to slow down, the farmers may breathe a sigh of relief as rains will be not affecting the crops for a few days.

As the Western Disturbance has started moving eastwards, Cyclonic Circulation has also reduced. As a consequence, rains will recede and the weather is expected to go dry in the next 24 hours. The movement of the system has paved the way for northerly winds, which will lead to a major drop in minimum temperature. In Rajkot and Porbandar, a substantial drop of 11-12 degrees has been observed today morning. As the temperature is expected to reduce, the chilly winds from the north direction will continue until January 17, resulting in icy weather for a next few days.

Talking about East Rajasthan, the region might observe scattered showers of higher intensity from January 16. These rains would be initially due to Confluence Zone. Dry cold north-westerly winds will merge with humid south-easterlies. A Cyclonic Circulation could be expected to develop in parts of Madhya Pradesh and East Rajasthan, which could lead to more rain.
