Weather Warning! Heavy Rainfall in Southern States; Red Alert Issued

Heavy Rains are likely to lash several parts of Kerala, Lakshadweep and Tamil Nadu and coastal parts of the Southern region in the next five days due to an active North-East Monsoon over the Southern region as per the latest weather reports. Moreover, a red alert has been issued in these districts of Kerala - Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur and Palakkad due to cyclonic circulation over southwest Bay of Bengal. 

As per the Indian Meteorological Department reports, “Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls likely over peninsular India during the next 4-5 days. Heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy falls likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal on 22nd and over Coastal Karnataka during 23rd to 25th October. Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning very likely over parts of peninsular, east and central India during next 2 days.” 

On the other hand, heavy rain plays a ‘spoiler game’ in several parts of Maharashtra during the polling day when voters are expected to decide the fate of 288 constituencies. Meanwhile, the national capital’s air quality turned “poor” as the wind direction changed to northwesterly.

Moreover, most places over Kerala & Mahe and Arunachal Pradesh, Konkan & Goa, South Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Lakshadweep observed light shower along with thunderstorm as per yesterday’s report while isolated places over Marathawada, Konkan & Goa, South Interior Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal lashed with heavy rain on Monday. 

Maximum temperatures were recorded above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at most places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura; at a few places over Konkan & Goa while minimum temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at a few places over Assam & Meghalaya, Bihar, East Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh. 

Moreover, the Delhi weather has been witnessed a pre-wintery veil and foggy morning.
