This approach encouraged farmers to move beyond traditional crops and grow a variety of crops to boost yields and income. The department not only provided guidance but also offered support in the form of seeds and farming equipment, such as spray pumps and seed treatment kits, at subsidized rates. With these tools, Pawan felt equipped to embark on a new farming journey.

Pawan’s first step was to diversify the crops on his 15 kanals of land by adding vegetables like cucumbers, cowpeas, and pumpkins alongside his regular maize and wheat. Before embracing crop diversification, Pawan’s income was minimal with little hope for a better future, but today he earns approximately Rs 8-9 lakh annually from his crop sales. Their newfound financial stability has allowed them to provide their children with quality education at prestigious institutions, something that was once an unreachable dream.
