    During his address, T.R Kesavan expressed his appreciation for the admirable resilience shown by farmers during the challenging times of the pandemic. He stressed the importance of taking action to increase the income and social status of farmers, while also encouraging the adoption of technology to bring about positive change in the farming community. Kesavan highlighted the significance of using the hydroponic system and the reuse of cocopit as a climate-friendly alternative. He also informed the audience that the use of drones can reduce fertilizer and pesticide usage by up to 50 percent, resulting in higher crop yields.

According to the most recent United Nations figures, India has surpassed China to become the world's most populous country, with 142.86 crore inhabitants.

     

  • Spice Inflation Bites: Cumin Prices Skyrocket to Rs 600/kg

    Because of the climate issue, cumin (jeera), a commonly used condiment, has become the most expensive food ingredient in the Indian kitchen, costing Rs 560-600 per kg. Cumin prices soared to above 40,000 quintal (100 kg) in Gujarat's Una, the spice trade's nerve centre, last week. According to experts, changing weather patterns in Rajasthan, India's top spice grower, have upset the demand-supply balance, and a large cumin shortfall has driven demand skyrocketing. The silver lining is that growers are receiving a fair portion of the market price as a result of a change in how the spice market operates.

    Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister, today launched the SATHI (Seed Traceability, Authentication, and Holistic Inventory) Portal and Mobile App, a Centralized Online System for seed traceability, authentication, and inventory designed to address the challenges of seed production, quality seed identification, and seed certification.

    The G20 Meeting of Agricultural Chief Scientists (MACS) on "Sustainable Agriculture and Food System for Healthy People and Planet" finished today in Varanasi. General (Dr.) V K Singh (Retd. ), Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Road Transport and Highways, officially opened the meeting on April 17, 2023.

     

     

  • Dr. Abhilaksh Likhi Interacts with Farmers During Visit to Central Farm Machinery Training & Testing Institute in Budni, MP

    Dr. Abhilaksh Likhi, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare (Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare), visited the Central Farm Machinery Training & Testing Institute in Budni, (M.P.) to review the institute's training, testing, and demonstration activities in the agricultural mechanization field. During his visit, he met with the Institute's Director and personnel and viewed the various training and testing laboratories. The institute is the sole tractor testing centre in the country, as well as a National designated authority for testing tractors according to OECD standards, which supports tractor export.
