  • Haryana CM Predicts 10-15% Crop Loss as Heavy Rain Wreaks Havoc

    A succession of storms have ripped through maturing wheat in states like as Uttar Pradesh, the largest grower, Madhya Pradesh, the second-largest grower, Punjab, and Haryana, in addition to Rajasthan. Haryana's rabi crop appears to have been harmed by unseasonal rains in March, according to the state's chief minister, Manohar Lal Khattar, though he underlined that the level of loss was significantly smaller than earlier predicted.

     

  • Govt’s Swasthya Sathi Scheme Funds Rs 200 Crores in Medical Treatment

    In 2022- 23, the Bengal government spent more than Rs 200 crores to cure patients having Swasthya Sathi cards and suffering from heart ailments, cancer, and knee problems. Most of the money was spent on people suffering from heart problems said a senior official of the health department. Around 3,050 patients underwent angioplasty at Rs 12.21 crores. And, as many as 12,372 critical patients underwent angioplasty, costing Rs 71.30 crores.

     

  • IRRI & ICAR Signed a 5-year Plan in Varanasi to Develop Better Rice

    The ICAR and IRRI have renewed their ties and signed a 5-year plan (2023-2028) on Wednesday in Varanasi. The plan was signed by Dr Himanshu Pathak (ICAR chief) and Dr Jean Balié (IRRI director general) energizing the non-profit’s 60-year-old alliance with India. On Wednesday, the signing event was held in the setting of the G20 MACS conference.

     

  • Punjab's Agriculture Minister Orders Inquiry of Pending Crop Loss Relief for Farmers

    Punjab agriculture minister, Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, has directed the principal secretary of agriculture to gather information on farmers who have not received compensation for crop damage by May 15. The minister conveyed this message during a meeting held on Wednesday with representatives of various non-political farm bodies that are a part of the Sanyukat Kisan Morcha.

     

  • Onion Farmers Face Financial Setback as Prices Drop Sharply

    Onion farmers got a massive financial hit in Maharashtra as the price of onion got declined by Rs. 3-4/kg. The Maharashtra Government has announced a compensation of Rs. 350/quintal to affected farmers. Onion farmers throughout the nation are currently facing difficulties as the price of onions is steadily declining. This has a significant negative financial impact on farmers. Due to a sharp decline in onion prices, farmers who grow onions are also having problems in Maharashtra.
