  • Mozambique: FAO Launches EMA-I to Improve Surveillance in Animal & Zoonotic Diseases

    For the first time in Mozambique, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has made the Event Mobile Application (EMA-i), an Android app for real-time data collection and disease reporting, available to veterinary field officers to strengthen their surveillance and early warning capabilities for the reporting of animal & zoonotic diseases. The Event Mobile Application (EMA-i) is an Android application that provides disease notification, real-time data collection, and early warning systems, sending out immediate alerts when an outbreak occurs. EMA-i was first tested in Uganda in 2013 as part of a One Health Project funded by the Irish government.

     

  • Farmers Trained in Latest Techniques of Agriculture in Bhiwani

    Two farmer training programmes were held by Bharat Certis AgriScience Ltd. in the villages of Kheda and Rupana in Siwani, in Bhiwani district of Haryana. More than 370 farmers from the nearby villages participated in the session. Dr. Pradeep Chahal, an agricultural scientist from the Haryana Agriculture University, and Dr. Raghubir Singh, a block agriculture officer, trained the farmers on cutting-edge methods for growing the wheat crop during the session, while the management of soil health and sustainable agriculture were key topics of this workshop. In Siwani, 5 villages have been adopted by Bharat Certis AgriScience Ltd., a subsidiary of Japan-based Mitsui & Company.

  • Kailash Choudhary, Secretaries from Agriculture Ministry Relish 'Millets Only' Lunch by Narendra Tomar in New Delhi

    Ahead of the International Year of Millets 2023, a special 'millets only' meal was hosted by Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar at his residence on Thursday afternoon. The lunch was held to commemorate Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiative to promote millets across the world. The millet feast was attended by Union Minister of State Kailash Choudhary, Secretary of Agriculture Manoj Ahuja, and other officials of the Ministry of Agriculture. Krishi Jagran was also invited to participate in the event. A number of millet delicacies including khichdi, churma, kheer, bajra roti, halwa, garlic chutney, and kadi were relished by the attendees.

    Gujarat & Odisha have reported 4 cases of the Omicron sub-variant BF.7, the strain primarily responsible for the recent spike in Covid infections in China. Following the reports of four cases of the Omicron sub-variant, responsible for the enormous surge in Covid-19 cases in China, found in the two states of India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will assess the Covid situation in the country at a high-level meeting today.
